Artist Profile

Tokuyo is an award winning Japanese Australian artist, who designs & hand carves leather art. All her artworks are her own design, hand-tooled, hand-coloured, hand-laced or sewn. Every piece is a unique one-of-a-kind item.
From concept and design, each creation undergoes an intricate process resulting in a distinctive art piece.
“I got to try leatherwork for the first time when I was 8. I studied Visual Art and Graphic Art at Seian College in Japan, after which, I worked professionally as a Graphic Artist. I married and moved to Adelaide, Australia in 1988. Leather is my preferred medium, and I have won multiple awards at the Royal Adelaide Show. I enjoyed teaching leatherwork in the community class setting and supported primary school students in Visual Art Education.”
